Hit the road and explore Aotearoa your way.
We’re Pamela, Ramiro and Awka — an Argentinian family and world travellers who made Auckland home and fell head over heels for New Zealand’s outdoor life.
We started Ocean Campervans to share that feeling: to help visitors experience Aotearoa in a flexible, affordable and authentic way. No corporate desks, no scripts — just carefully kept campervans, fast and friendly communication, and local advice from people who genuinely love exploring this country.
Our goal is simple: that you feel like you’re borrowing a campervan from friends.

Some of the unforgettable places your Ocean campervan can take you.
A few things we always share with first-time visitors before they hit the road.
Roads are narrow and winding — take it slow, and pull over safely to enjoy the view.
Aim for just 2–3 hours of driving a day and leave plenty of time to stop and explore.
Crossing between islands? Reserve your Interislander or Bluebridge spot well ahead in peak season.
Your self-contained van lets you stay in designated areas — check CamperMate and never camp where it’s not allowed.
NZ weather changes fast. Bring layers, a rain jacket and sunscreen — even in summer.
Petrol stations can be far apart on remote routes, so top up with Petrol 91 whenever you can.
Ramiro’s family designed and built the van themselves — everything worked, everything had its place, with room to spare. When we got a flat tyre he was quick to help and even called us.
Thirty days in Ocean V around both islands. Exactly as described and, as first-time campervan users, the whole thing was straightforward — comfortable to drive and to sleep in.
Ramiro and Pam were incredible — the van is well designed, comfortable and practical. When we had ferry problems they were so attentive and helpful. 10 out of 10!

Absolutely — our campervans are certified self-contained, so you can stay overnight in designated freedom camping areas right across New Zealand. We recommend the CamperMate and WikiCamps apps to find campsites, dump stations and fuel stops, and we’ll point you to our favourite spots.
Sorry, pets aren’t allowed in our campervans — this keeps every van fresh and allergy-friendly for the next traveller.
Drivers need to be 21 or over and hold a current full driver’s licence (an International Driving Permit if your licence isn’t in English). All drivers should bring their passport and licence at pick-up.
Yes — you’re welcome to take your campervan on the Cook Strait ferry between the North and South Islands. We recommend booking your Interislander or Bluebridge crossing early, especially in peak season.
Every driver should bring their passport, a current driver’s licence and an International Driving Permit if your licence isn’t in English. Pick-up takes about 30 minutes — we’ll complete the Camplify handover and show you the bed, kitchen, water tanks and toilet.
The vans run on Petrol 91 and come with a full tank, so please return them full — there’s a petrol station right opposite the drop-off point. Return is flexible, with 6 pm the latest. We can also store extra luggage for you free of charge.
You’re covered by 24/7 roadside assistance through Camplify and NZRA, and every van carries a fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, jack and jumper cables. Message us any time on WhatsApp — we’re quick to help.
